About the role

Our organisation is on journey towards a vision of Thames as a confident and vibrant community to live, work and play, and we are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Area Manager to enable Council to deliver their part of the picture in our Thames ward.

This role sits within the Strategy and Governance team and is focussed on delivering productive relationships across communities and Council.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the liaison between Thames Community Board, community groups and Council
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of community groups and supporting the groups to be sustainable and self-empowering
  • Leading the development of community plans, including engagement with communities and Council
  • High quality project delivery, in line with agreed processes and Council standards
  • Support for consultation led by other areas of Council.

About you

This is a role for a confident and engaging public relations professional. Familiarity with the local government world, along with a solutions-focused approach, will be essential to success in this role. We need someone who can provide value at the strategic level and is equally comfortable sitting down with our local community partners to truly understand their needs.  

You’ll need to demonstrate:

  • Experience in high profile public relations environment, including managing community consultation processes
  • Extensive experience in the development, management and delivery of key strategic initiatives
  • A strong communicator with a collaborative approach
  • Confident and capable in building sustainable relationships and partnerships at all levels.
