About the role 

Safe homes and buildings are a vital part of Coromandel Peninsula living. Thames-Coromandel District Council is seeking a Building Compliance Officer to be part of our Building Unit and the team that ensures the right things are happening for our buildings and swimming pools. Join the tight knit team covering monitoring and compliance for building warrants of fitness (BWOF) and swimming pool fencing. 

This is a permanent, full time role primarily based in our Thames Office. 

About you 

Dealing with the intricacies of the building consent application process you will need to be able to quickly develop strong relationships and keep your finger on the pulse.  A can-do attitude and the ability to develop innovative solutions that work for all involved will be vital.  Attention to detail is key and you will be a self-starter who can prioritise and operate under pressure.  A great sense of humour will have you fit right in with the team along with

  • An understanding of current NZ Building Code legislation would be helpful
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to build sound relationships and give advice
  • Computer literacy, including keyboard skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
