Kia kaha te reo Māori!

We're celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori all week long at our three District Libraries.

  • Join us on Thursday for Te Wā Tuku Reo Māori - The Māori Language Moment. All of Aotearoa and further is invited to stop what they’re doing and celebrate te reo Māori at 12pm, on 14 September. You can kōrero (speak), waiata (sing), pānui (read) and more - whatever you do, do it in te reo Māori.
  • Our team at all three of our District Libraries are focusing on local place names this year - come and join us! We're learning te reo Māori names for different locations in our rohe, and making sure we're pronouncing them correctly.
  • If you're in Tairua, we're hosting two beginner-level workshops this week at Tairua Library, with a focus on pronunciation and greetings. Check out our website for details.
  • Also in Tairua, join our intermediate-level te reo Māori conversation group, on Tuesday mornings at Tairua Library. Get in touch with our team at Tairua Library to find out more.
  • Check out the Māori language resources in our collection.
