Destination Hauraki Coromandel
Our Council is a settlor and major funder of our Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) Destination Hauraki Coromandel (DHC), along with Hauraki District Council.

Destination Hauraki Coromandel is responsible for promoting the Hauraki Coromandel as a leading tourist and visitor destination, marketing Hauraki Coromandel and tourist and visitor attractions, and supporting the local tourism sector to deliver higher value, sustainable tourism experiences.
DHC works closely with local tourism operators, event organisers, our Visitor Information Centres, and the travel industry in New Zealand. They're passionate about tourism and are always looking for new ideas and partnerships so don't hesitate to get in touch with their team here.

Tourism statistics
Destination Hauraki Coromandel have access to tourism-related statistics and often share visitor and spending insights and marketing activity. Sign up for their newsletter or get in touch with them if your business would benefit from these insights.
Additionally, our Council provides public access to a range of Economic Data which includes tourism statistics and insights. If you're having trouble finding insights that are of particular interest, you can contact DHC or our Economic Development team.
Hauraki Rail Trail
Council is also a joint settlor in the Hauraki Rail Trail Charitable Trust, who are responsible for managing the Hauraki Rail Trail, a 160km cycle trail stretching across the Thames-Coromandel, Hauraki, and Matamata-Piako Districts. The Hauraki Rail Trail is part of Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand and is a key visitor attraction and activity.

Visitor Information Centres
Our Council is the major funder of six Visitor Information Centres. Local information is a vital piece in the tourism experience puzzle and these Centres play a major role in tourism on the Coromandel.
