Parking Bylaw

The Parking Bylaw/Ture ā-Rohe Tūnga Waka was made on 15 October 2024. The purpose of the bylaw is to:
  • enhance and promote road safety
  • achieve an appropriate and equitable allocation of parking places between different road users.

For information about the decision to make the bylaw, take a look at the following report that was considered at the Council meeting on 15 October 2024:

The bylaw sets out the legal framework for the Council to manage parking in the district. Most of the bylaw provisions enable the Council to control the use of parking spaces ‘by resolution’. A resolution is a decision made by the Councillors. Copies of resolutions are published in the Register of Resolutions. Other provisions in the bylaw deal with how fees for use of parking spaces can be collected and the process for getting an approval from the Council to use certain parking spaces.
