Rain today, but even more due Thursday

Rain is forecast for today, Wednesday 7 December, which could be heavy at times, but even more rain is forecast for Thursday.

MetService has issued a Heavy Rain Warning - Orange for the Coromandel, effective from midnight tonight to midnight Thursday.

"Expect 100 to 130 mm of rain about the ranges, with lesser amounts near the coast. Peak rates of 10 to 20 mm/h expected about the ranges," MetService says.

Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
