Thames' Totara community cemetery

We manage 13 cemeteries within the Thames-Coromandel District. Of these, seven are currently open for burials, while six other cemeteries are no longer operational.

Most cemeteries operating in the Thames-Coromandel District cater mostly for lawn plot burials, which means that you must not plant vegetation or place structures, borders or any items on the plot itself.

Each community within the district is serviced by at least one operational cemetery.

*Tararu Historical Cemetery cemetery is currently closed until further notice, potentially until September 2020. The drought has caused vegetation on the high slopes above the access path to die off and there is a high volume of dirt and rocks falling on the stairway, making it inaccessible. Clearing the path is a short term measure that will not have lasting effects. Slippage of material will continue even with rainfall. The cemetery is not safe to access at this time.
