What's on in the Coromandel

From creepy stories and family-friendly horror movies to the Halloween sweets and themed activities; slowly but surely Halloween is becoming more and more popular throughout New Zealand.  The Coromandel is hosting a number of Halloween events this year, and you can read more about these events below.

Halloween at the Mercury Bay Library

Friday 30 October 2020, 4pm - 5pm

Get your creepy costumes ready. This year, we'll have plenty of crafts and activities to keep you entertained at Mercury Bay Library. Drop in after school - if you dare.

Thames Haunted House 2020

Friday 30 - Saturday 31st, Thames Civic Centre

Come if you dare to the Haunted House Walk-through.

There is a suggested age limit of 14+ for the late-night sessions (this is not enforced and is up to parents if they deem it ok).

Hogwarts Halloween at the Thames Library


    

Friday 30 October 2020, 5.30pm - 6.30pm

This year, we'll follow the spiders into Hogwarts' Forbidden Forest, for a night of games and magic. Maybe you'll see a unicorn - or a dementor.  Bookings are essential as spaces are limited - there will be no entry without your Hogwarts acceptance letter. Children under the age of five must have a parent or caregiver with them at all times. Phone 8686616 or ask one of our staff to book your space

    


Halloween Disco - Coromandel Area School 

    

Volunteer Day at Shortland Cemetary - Thames    


  

Saturday 31 October from 10am to 2pm.

To get into the Halloween vibe, come along to a volunteer working bee at Shortland Cemetery - it's a lovely old historic cemetery with stunning views over town and the Firth. And there are many amazing old headstones with a lot of local history.

This event coincides with NZCCC (New Zealand Cemeteries and Crematoria Collective) cemeteries and crematoria week running from 31 October to 7 November.

Volunteers to wear closed-in shoes and bring sunhats, gardening gloves and small hand tools such as brooms, hand brushes.

Refreshments provided on the day.
