Can't find what you're looking for? We can borrow from other libraries on your behalf.

If your library doesn't have the item you're looking for, we may be able to borrow it from another New Zealand library - this is called an inter-library loan, or an interloan for short.

Interloans are great for borrowing older, hard-to-find titles, or for tapping into the collections of bigger library networks. If you've already checked our library catalogue and we don't have the item you want, try searching the New Zealand libraries catalogue to see if you can locate the book at another New Zealand library.

Thames-Coromandel District Libraries is part of the National Reciprocal Group, which means we can borrow from other libraries in the group. Interloans cost $6.00 each (to help cover the courier fees) if we can find your book within the group.

Additional charges may apply if the item is only available from non-reciprocal New Zealand and overseas libraries.  The interloan fee is paid when you collect the item. If you request an interloan but change your mind and do not collect it from the library, the fee will still be added to your library account.

You can make an interloan request by filling in a form at the library.

Staff will contact you if there are any issues, or when the item is ready to be picked up. If items are available, they usually arrive within one or two weeks.

Most interloan items will be checked out to you for a slightly longer loan period than a regular item, but this depends on the policies of the library we've borrowed the item from. If you'd like to keep your item a little longer, let us know well before it's due. We'll need to contact the library we've borrowed it from and confirm your renewal with them.
