The Food Act 2014 came into force on 1 March 2016. It takes a new approach to managing food safety. 

If you would like to sell food from a stall at your local market, please contact our Environmental Health team by calling 07 868 0200 and discuss with the market organiser.

Small Business Roadshow invitation

We would like to invite you to participate in a small business roadshow with focus on markets.

The intention of the road show is to help you to find out if you need to register to sell food at a market.

Some of the topics covered during the presentation will be:

  • Overview of Food Act 2014
  • Exemption – when you don’t need to register
  • Seek exemptions – when you might not need to register
  • How to apply for registration?
  • Fees and charges
  • Verification
  • Any monitoring activities

The workshop will be held at our Thames Office - Council Chambers & Lounge, 515 Mackay Street, Thames, on Monday 30 July 2018 starting at 10:30am to 12:00pm.

This is an opportunity to clarify some of your questions and make sure that you understand the requirements under the Food Act 2014.
