Visitor Information Centres on the Coromandel

The Coromandel Peninsula has five Visitor Information Centres where tourists, prospective and permanent residents can get all the information they need to make their stay or life on the Coromandel full of adventure, activities, local cuisine and fun.  There is also an automated Visitor Information Kiosk in the Goldfields Mall in Thames.

Visitor Information Centres can be found in Coromandel Town,  Whitianga, Whangamata, Pauanui and  Tairua. There is also a Department of Conservation visitor centre in the Kauaeranga Valley about 15km from Thames.

Visitor Information Centre hours 

All our visitor centres are open, with the following hours:

Thames Information Kiosk, Goldfields Mall, 8am - 8pm Monday - Saturday and 10am - 4pm Sunday.  Public Holidays 10am - 5pm.

Whitianga Information Centre: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4pm, Saturday 9.30am - 1pm, Sunday closed. 

Coromandel Town Visitor Centre: 7 days a week, 10am-3:00pm.

Tairua Information Centre:  Monday-Friday 9:30am - 4pm. Saturday 10am-1pm. Sunday – closed.

Pauanui Information Centre: Monday – Saturday 9:30am-4pm. Sunday – 10am-4pm.

Whangamata Information Centre:  Tuesday to Sunday 9am - 3pm

Destination Coromandel

The Council funds an organisation called Destination Coromandel, our very own Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), which has the responsibility of marketing the Coromandel to the world.
