Coromandel Harbour Project Team

The Coromandel Harbour Facilities Project is a major work for our Council. That's why at different stages in the project we have brought in experts from various fields who will work alongside our staff to ensure the best decision is made around the preferred option for the management and development of Coromandel Harbour.

The Project Team.

TCDC council staff with expertise in planning, infrastructure, roading and engineering. This team includes elected members This project team is across all Milestones (One to Four) but will bring in different independent expertise during other Milestones within the Project when required.

For Milestones One and Two (2012-2013) the Project Team included.

Cranleigh. An independent strategic advisory firm, Cranleigh will provide Council with expert analysis in its decision around the viability of a wharf precinct development for Coromandel Harbour. Cranleigh has brought together a team of experts in their fields, with wide collective experience in design, funding and delivery of marine infrastructure.  Cranleigh's experts include:

  • Aurecon. Providing engineering, management and specialist technical services to public and private sector clients globally. Aurecon is a global market leader in the design, construction, maintenance and upgrade of ports and coastal infrastructure.
  • Brian T. Coffey & Associates. An environmental consultancy led by Dr Brian Coffey, a Whangamata local with many years experience in marine, estuarine and freshwater ecology surveys, water management plans, environmental audits and assessment/remediation of contaminated sites.
  • DHI. An independent consulting, research and technology organisation. It is the world's leading developer of "off the shelf" and "tailor made" software for modelling the world of water. Its MIKE by DHI software is used by government, consulting, industry and teaching organsiations around the world.
  • Harrison Grierson. One of Australasia's leading land development and infrastructure and engineering consultancies with planning staff that have expertise and experience working with harbour, port facilities and marine projects.
  • Tuia Group. A professional advisory firm that works extensively with public and private sector clients, Maori, Pacific and indigenous groups and organisations.
