Sugarloaf wharf repair

Sugarloaf boat ramp update: Repairs completed, ramp open this afternoon

In May, the larger boat ramp at the facility had been undermined by tidal action and propeller wash, which had resulted in the collapse of a large section of the concrete ramp.

A substantial amount of repair was needed including the installation of new piles to support it, a new outside wall to be constructed, and several cubic metres of concrete to be pumped into parts of the ramp which were essentially hollow.

Our team has worked hard to get the ramp operational and the repairs are now completed. The ramp is now better than new and will not be at risk of being undermined by tides and prop action. The concrete repair has firmly placed the ramp onto bedrock" said Economic Development and Communications Manager Benjamin Day.
