ANZAC parades and services in Thames-Coromandel District

Parades and memorial services will be held across the Coromandel this Anzac Day, Wednesday, April 25, to honour the servicemen and women who displayed courage and sacrifice serving New Zealand in wars overseas.

Our Mayor Sandra Goudie warmly invites people to mark Anzac Day at one of the dawn parades or services listed below.

Mayor Sandra is attending the Civic Parade in Thames and will speak at the service that follows at the Thames War Memorial Civic Centre Cenotaph on Mary Street.

All descendants of returned service personnel are welcome to participate in the parades.

Returned service personnel are asked to wear their medals and decorations.

Descendants of returned service personnel marching in the parades are asked to wear medals on the right upper portion of their apparel.


  • 6.00am  Dawn Service at Memorial Reserve, 355 Kapanga Road, Coromandel, to be followed by breakfast at the Coromandel Citizens Hall.
  • 10.00am ANZAC Service at Memorial Reserve, 355 Kapanga Road,Coromandel. To be followed by morning tea at The Club, 190 Woollams Avenue, Coromandel.


  • 5.45am Dawn Parade - from Tapu Fire Station to Cenotaph, Tapu Hall,  followed by service.  Breakfast provided afterwards at Tapu Fire  Station.


  • 5.45am Dawn Parade - from cnr Cochrane and Pollen Streets, Thames,  marching to Thames War Memorial Civic Centre for 6am service.
  • 9.45am Civic Parade - from corner Sealey and Pollen Streets, Thames, followed by 10am service, Thames War Memorial Civic Centre  Cenotaph, Mary Street, Thames.


  • 6.00am Dawn Service - Pauanui Surf Lifesaving Club, Pauanui Boulevard, Pauanui (or the Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club if wet).
  • 11.00am Civic Service, assemble at Pauanui Garden Centre at 10.45am, marching off to Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club, Sheppard Avenue, Pauanui for 11am  service.


  • 6.00am Dawn Service, Tairua Ex-Servicemen's Cemetery, Main Rd, Tairua.
  • 10.30am Civic Parade and uniformed personnel/RSA, assemble outside the Tairua Fire Station, Main Rd, Tairua to form up and march off at  10.45am.
  • 11.00am Civic service at Tairua Community Hall, Main Road, Tairua.


  • 6.30am Sunrise Flag Raising & Service - Assemble at Whangamata Surf   Club. Following the service cooked breakfast will be available at Blackies in Williamson Park.
  • 10.20am Civic Parade led by the Bay of Plenty Pipes & Drums from the  Council Offices, Port Road, Whangamata, followed by 11.00am Civic service at Whangamata War Memorial Hall, Port    Road, Whangamata, followed by a light lunch and entertainment at the RSA Clubrooms.


  • 5.45am Dawn Parade - from Mercury Bay Club carpark, Cook Drive, Whitianga, followed by service at Soldiers' Memorial Park, Whitianga.  Breakfast at Mercury Bay Club to follow service.


  • 10.30am Assemble at corner of Cordyline Crescent and Ake Ake Ave to form  up and march off at 10.40am followed by11.00am Service at Matarangi Volunteer Rural Fire Force Station (near  Matarangi Shopping Centre,
