TVNZ News Story on Council Coastal Management Project 27 December 2012 The Coromandel coast is some of the most beautiful in the country but there are some areas which are fragile to coastal erosion patterns. To manage erosion and help preserve what we have our Council has been working on developing short, medium and long-term management options for beaches, mainly on the eastern side of the peninsula. A TVNZ ONE news team came to Whitianga to follow what we have put into action so far for Buffalo and Brophy's Beaches. The news story went to air on 26 December 2012. On Friday 4 January 2013 we are holding a community open day in our Whitianga office (10 Monk St, Whitianga) between 12pm and 2pm to share with people what management options are available for Whitianga's coastline to protect it from further erosion.
