Drop-in and tell us what you think about how we use our reserves

30 November 2018

Our Reserve Management Plans (RMPs) review process is now underway and we currently have two documents out for consultation.

RMP

Reserves are much-loved features of our district, providing opportunities for recreation, as well as a general sense of open space where we can enjoy the simple things such as a picnic with family and friends.

Many of our RMPs are over ten years old and we believe our communities’ needs and expectations of our reserves have changed over this time. For this reason, we are inviting your feedback. We’re taking feedback now until 18 January 2019 on our draft district-wide General Policies for reserves and the draft RMP for Coromandel-Colville area reserves.

We're holding public drop-in sessions across the district to give you the opportunity to talk about the draft plans with us, and provide face-to-face feedback:

  • Colville – Monday 10 December, 11.30am – 1.30pm at the Colville Hall, 2331 Colville Road.
  • Coromandel Town – Monday 10 December, 4pm – 6pm at the TCDC Coromandel Service Centre, 355 Kapanga Road.
  • Thames – Tuesday 11 December, 4pm – 5.30pm at the Thames Civic Centre, 200 Mary St.
  • Pauanui - Wednesday 12 December, 2pm – 3.30pm at the Pauanui Hub, 23 Centreway.
  • Whangamata – Wednesday 12 December, 4.30pm – 6pm at the TCDC Whangamata Service Centre, 620 Port Road.
  • Whitianga – Thursday 13 December, 4pm – 5.30pm at the TCDC Whitianga Service Centre, 10 Monk St.

You can read the full draft plan and provide your feedback on the General Policies at www.tcdc.govt.nz/RMP.

Where there are issues specific to a local reserve this will be addressed in the RMP for that area.

The Coromandel-Colville RMP is the first community board area to have a review.  You can read the draft plan about the management of individual reserves in the Coromandel Colville community board area at www.tcdc.govt.nz/CCRMP.

We have begun reviewing the RMPs for Thames and Mercury Bay areas and public consultation is likely to occur in mid-2019.  Review of the Tairua, Pauanui and Whangamata RMPs will begin in early 2019 and public consultation is expected to occur late 2019.

The current plans can be viewed on our website here.

There are a number of ways you can give your feedback:

  • Submit using our online consultation portal here.
