Santa is coming to a town near you

It is almost that time of the year again, with Santa parade festivities taking place in a town near you to celebrate the Christmas spirit on the Coromandel. There’s new floats, live music, food stalls, running races, photos and Santa himself getting around our district.

Here is more information on a parade near you:

Thames - Friday 13 December, 5-9pm. Registration forms available from GBD and Harcourts. For more information contact Rachael Cheeseman by email.

Thames Santa Dash -Wanted: runners for the Santa Dash. Lots of businesses have come forward to sponsor Santa suits for the dash, but now runners are needed to put on those costumes for the dash, which is part of the Thames Santa parade. Sound like you? Get in touch with Thames Twilight Santa Parade organisers the Thames Business Association.

Coromandel Town - Saturday 7 December, 3pm from Te Tiki Street to the Coromandel Area School field. The bulk of the roadway improvements to the Coromandel Town’s main street will be finished by the time Santa and his helpers to pay a visit. Turn up on the day at Te Tiki Street by 2.30pm.

Whitianga - Saturday 7 December, 12.30pm. The parade starts at Lyon Park Rugby Grounds, travels along Albert Street towards Buffalo Beach, along The Esplanade and finishes at Taylor's Mistake car park area. At the end of the parade the winning float will be awarded with a prize. Entry forms are still avaliable from The Informer's office at 14 Monk Street or at Contact Fiona Kettlewell on 021 299 5506.

Whangamata - Saturday 7 December, 3pm on Port Road. Entry forms can still be collected from Geoff March from the Lions Club, contact him on 021 025 72270.
