Tree to be removed on Paku Drive, Tairua 26 June 2019 Due to on-going issues the large old puriri tree on Paku Drive in Tairua will be removed tomorrow. This tree shed a large branch a couple of weeks ago, knocking out the power and closing the road. Since then, a further branch has fallen and landed across an adjoining property and a public walkway. The tree is being removed urgently as there is a high probability of further issues and this puts a lot of important infrastructure at risk such as roading, stormwater, water mains and power. Stop/go traffic management will be in place and there will be minor delays in the area. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to residents and thank you for your patience while the work takes place. There will be a significant portion of the tree stump left as the tree will not be removed at ground level, therefore the regrowth of the puriri tree will be managed by our Community Facilities staff.
