What's on in the Coromandel?

The inaugural Whitianga Half Marathon is taking place in Whitianga this Saturday, 26 May. There will be no road closures in place; however, marshals will be in attendance and the road shoulders will be used by runners/walkers. Due to the town upgrade there has been a slight course detour up Victoria and Owen Streets, instead of all the way to the end of Blacksmith Lane. The Pipi Pickers

Performing at Kauaeranga Hall for the very first time is bluegrass band The Pipi Pickers. Often simply referred to as The Pipis, they play a blend of contemporary and traditional hard driving bluegrass with solid instrumental chops, and an engaging performance style that puts a smile on everyone’s face and infuses even the most dreadful of murder ballads with a sense of joy and energy.

Assist the local DOC rangers at the Whitianga DOC office to prepare materials for their new Predator Free 2050 Pest Police education program that will be delivered to a number of local schools. Tasks include using hand and power tools to cut wood and wire required for kids to build Rat Trap boxes.
