Destination Coromandel promotes the Hauraki and Thames-Coromandel Districts to visitors with ‘The Coromandel good for your soul’ brand tagline.

It was up against 30 other regional tourism organisations (RTOs) from around New Zealand for the award, which recognises Destination Coromandel as the RTO with the strongest overall results in two key areas of online marketing performance: organic search traffic and online video audience.

Destination Coromandel’s marketing manager Megan Nunn says effective digital marketing is crucial to the success of any visitor destination.

“Having a strong digital platform allows us to compete with bigger visitor destinations that are better resourced,” Megan says.

“We’re very grateful to RTNZ for the recognition. Our digital channels, particularly our website, are a result of years of hard work from the team and we’re delighted with the win.”

Destination Coromandel acknowledges the role played by creative agencies and businesses and tourism operators in our region’s wider visitor industry, who helped deliver the ‘good for your soul’ experience.

“Our ‘Take it Easy – Hauraki Rail Trail’ spring campaign, launched last week, is a good example of marketing activity directly influencing travellers’ behaviour,” Megan says.

“Already, we’ve attracted online visitors to research our tourism products, then they have gone on to book an experience in The Coromandel.”

Our Mayor Sandra Goudie congratulates Destination Coromandel on a well-deserved win.

“It’s an excellent result,” Mayor Sandra says.

“Destination Coromandel work very hard with the important job of promoting our region, and the work they produce is top-class.

“This week, Destination Coromandel held an industry forum in Pauanui, which I attended. It was a fantastic turn-out and it was great to see tourism operators and businesses getting together to see how we're going as a visitor destination,” Mayor Sandra says.
