Steampunk your letterbox and win 12 September 2018 The annual Steampunk The Thames festival is being held 8 - 11 November. A novel way Thames Valley communities can get involved is in the 'punk your letterbox' competition. In the theme of the festival, people are being encouraged to 'punk' up their letterbox, so Thames will be more easily identified as a steampunk enthusiast community all year round. The 'punk your letterbox' competition is sponsored by the Seagull Centre in Thames and there are three cash prizes up for grabs. Organisers of the competition say they created the competition to help make Thames more visually interesting and vibrant, with the aim of getting those who are passing through to stop and explore what Thames has to offer. "We want to encourage people to visit Thames throughout the year, not just for the festival in November," says President of the Steampunk the Thames Committee, John McKoewen. "We're hoping that lots of people get involved in the competition this year as it is one of the highlights of the festival." "Thames is a great community and I feel that the steampunk theme celebrates all that is good about it; our heritage, our creativity, our recycling aptitude, and our people," says our Thames Community Board Chair, Diane Connors. The competition is open to all Thames Valley residents and entries close 15 October. Click here to enter the competition. Winners of the competition will be contacted and photos of the winning letterboxes will be displayed during Steampunk the Thames festival. Steampunk organisers don't want to restrict the creativity of this competition, so for safety reasons they have listed the regulations from NZ Post here.
